If you read IETester HomePage, it says "This is an alpha release".

No, it crashes after about 5 mins.

This crash was introduced in version 0.3.3, i.e. it didn't exist previously. It must have been caused by one of the two changes you made:

* Implemented "window.external" feature
* Added transparency support for IE5.5

I don't think too many people care about IE5.5, so maybe you should roll back that change and see if it fixes the problem.

Please don't remove IE 5.5. You can make optional install of it deselected by default and mark it "Unstable" or even "Unsupported".

I doesn't make sense to work much on it, but despite that instability it is very usable for preview.

Just like to confirm that

a. This is a fantastic tool - please keep up the good work

b. It is a tool that deals with legacy IE not just the ones that everyone is using but even then 5.5 is not exactly out there and people do not target it for new sites

c.The crash bug is also present in Vista SP2 but it is useable and indeed it is an alpha

d. Perhaps those that slag it off would like to write something useful or learn to respect those that have.

Here it will crash only if I open an IE7 or IE8 tab. No tab open, no crash.

System = Win Vista + SP2 + IE8

8shtml.dll_unloaded will be 7shtml.dll_unloaded if I open an IE7 tab instead of IE8.

I'm suffering crashes since I upgraded to 0.3.3. I can *always* reproduce it: The crash happens when I launch IETester, open an empty IE 7 tag and wait a few minutes. I don't need to load a site to get the crash and I don't get a crash with 5.5, 6 or 8 tabs.

I'm running Windows XP Professional SP3 (Spanish edition) with latest IE8. Is there any specific information I could provide that could help you to find the issue?

Getting this problem a lot too, on Windows XP SP3 with IE6, 7, and 8.

All I have to do is just open up IETester and then one tab (say, IE6), go to a website, and after a few minutes IETester crashes.

Where can you get version 0.3.2 from?

Other than that, this is a great program, and is a lifesaver!

The crash doesn't happen if I open a tab of IE7 and just leave it there.  Trying to open up an IE6 tab now afterwards to see what happens.

Update:  Yep, still crashes.

I am having the same problem, only it crashes immediately using IE 6. If I have it set to load a blank page on start, it allows me enough time to put in a url and navigate to the page, but then it crashes. If it uses any page as the default home page, it crashes immediately. I am testing IE 6 primarily on the following site:

Other versions appear to be fine.

I am using Windows XP Pro SP3 with IE 7.0.5703.13 installed.

This was working a few weeks ago but it crashes before I can get a chance to test the page now. I LOVE this application and really hope you can help me get it working.
