i.e 8 tab error

I can't open an i.e. 8 tab. I get the following string in the url (for google.com in this case):

res://ieframe.dll/dnserrordiagoff_webOC.htm#http://www.google.com/

Of course a problem with your Internet connection.

Re: i.e 8 tab error

I am getting a similar message with IE8 tab.
res://ieframe.dll/dnserrordiagoff_webOC.htm#http://www.my-debugbar.com/ietester/?version=0.4.3
My internet connect is fine and IE6 and IE7 tabs display the webpage.
I came to the forum to see if this was a known bug, or did I have to download IE8 engine from somewhere like we need to do with IE9.

Sorry I need to advise my OS version etc

Running XP Pro SP2 and IE7

Re: i.e 8 tab error

I have solved my problem with IE8 tab not displaying the searched for URL.  Having now loaded down and installed IE8, the engine is available for IE Tester to use.  It might be a good idea to note this in the download comments for IE Tester.

Cheers

Re: i.e 8 tab error

Hi,

That's not the case, there should be no need to download and install IE8 to have IE8 working.

Re: i.e 8 tab error

FYI I had the same problem, not being able to run IE8 tabs without the DNS error, and installing the package from Microsoft fixed it.

Re: i.e 8 tab error

I'm having problems launching the IE8 tab, but I'm not getting the DNS error that others are reporting. What I'm getting is an error dialog stating... "Unable to load the requested IE version". I have IE6 SP3 installed on my machine and running XP SP3. The IE 5.5, 6 and 7 tabs are working just fine. IE9 is disabled, which I would expect. I'm aware that this has already been reported, but I'm just letting other users know that this particular issue may, or may not, be a DNS error.

Re: i.e 8 tab error

Well, if you read correctly the IETester Homepage :

"IE8 instance do not work under XP without IE7".
