hello,

I have installed IETester 0.32 and debugbar 5.2.2. and IE8 on my system Win XP.
If page opened with IETester in IE 6 mode debug bar show in display mode column "Quirks mode IE5", or if page opened in IE7 mode debug bar show in display mode column "Standart mode IE6" etc. Debug bar always display previous version of display mode then I using at IEtest. Only use of IE8 mode is display mode showed correctly. How can I ix this problem?

Looks like IETester is right.

For the provided URL, using IE6, I get "quircks mode", and using IE7 I get "standard IE6 mode".

So rendering mode is different on IE6 and IE7, and DebugBar under IETester is giving the right information.

I'm getting the same thing. What would cause a page to render in "standard ie6 mode" despite being viewed in IE7?

Interestingly in IE it renders Standards Mode IE. So why would it render standard mode IE6 when viewed in IE7?

What is your problem ? Which url ? What mode ? What is your os and installed ie version ?

IE7 is showing "Standard IE6 mode". I think it should be "Standard IE7 mode", as:

Doctype is <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">, and alert(document.compatMode) shows "CSS1Compat", so Quirks mode was not triggered.

Or is there a slight behavior difference between "Standard IE6 mode" and "Standard IE7 mode"? I understand "Standard IE6 mode" as "behaving exactly as IE6 would", so rather quirky.

Hi,

I'm not sure to understand your question. Under IE7, there is no special mode.
There are only 2 differents modes under IE6 and IE7 : Quirck mode and Standard mode.

So, for an IE7 instance, there can be 2 modes as well : Quirck mode and Standard mode (called Standard IE6 mode).

Under IE8, there are 3 different modes : Quirck mode, Standard mode I7 and Standards mode IE8.
