Unable to View DebugBar

I have been using DebugBar for about 1 year.  I just reformatted and reinstalled my O/S and apps; however, after I installed DebugBar Version 5.1.1, nothing happens after I press the "DebugBar" button.  It seems that I can use every other feature, like "Send WebPage by Email", "Color Picker", "Resize",  "View Source", and "Spy".  But, I cannot use the DebugBar.  I looked in the forums, and Max had the same issue, but it was never resolved: http://www.my-debugbar.com/forum/t25-un … ugbar.html

Here are some screenshots, so you can see what is going on:
Here you can see that DebugBar is visible

Here you can see that I am able to press DebugBar, but nothing happens.

Thanks for your help.

I still have the problem!  I really miss not having DebugBar to assist in my programming because it is such a great tool.  I did a lot of research on similar issues, but I have not found a resolution.  Any help you can provide would be great.  Thanks

Re: Unable to View DebugBar

What is your OS and IE version ? Can you 3 debugbar add-ons in the list of IE add-ons (go to "Manage add-ons" menu). If so, are they all enabled ?

Thanks.

OS: Windows XP Service Pack 3
IE7 Build 7.0.5730.13
I can see 2 DebugBar Add-ons, not 3.

Re: Unable to View DebugBar

You should have 3 entries for DebugBar. You have only 2. The one missing is "DebugBar" with the type "Explorer Bar".
Did you install DebugBar with an admin user ? Are you using the same user then (that is the user that installed DebugBar" ? Can you try to install DebugBar again ?

Re: Unable to View DebugBar

Hi,

Can you check on the registry to see if the sidebar component is correctly installed ? :

1/ Open regedit
2/ Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
3/ then CLSID\{947E34E9-1D85-43CB-9CBF-5C492118FDD5}
4/ Under this key you should have some sub keys. Check if you have the same sub keys as in this screenshot :
http://www.my-debugbar.com/data/forum-error2.png

IF this is correct, sidebar registration looks ok.
What you can do then is to clear IE cache for sidebars as explained in this article :

http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;e … 8&y=12

It is still accurate with new IE versions. You will want to only remove the "Enum" entry of the "{00021493-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}" key.

Please tell me if this solving your issue.

It looks like it.  I included some photos.

The entries listed in the KB article do not exist in my registry (photo included).  However I searched for {00021493-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} in my registry and 1 of the results has an 'Enum' folder.  I deleted the 'Enum' folder, closed all browsers and tried DebugBar again.  I have the same problem.  Thanks again for the help, I hope we can resolive this issue.  What do you suggest?

That's a problem : Do you have other add-ons having sidebars installed ? If so which ones ? are they working ?

Re: Unable to View DebugBar

I don't know what's wrong here. It looks like there is a problem with the registry because there is no

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Discardable\PostSetup\Component Categories\{00021493-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\Enum

key on your machine which is really strange. So I don't know what you could try to make it work. Maybe find another ie extension with a sidebar and try to install it to check if it is only a DebugBar problem or a more general IE problem.

Re: Unable to View DebugBar

So, this is related to IE install. I searched for IE Developer Toolbar problems and found this thread here :

http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums … 8e46bbd50/

It says mainly to check these 3 options :

* Tools à Internet options à Security Tab à Local Intranet à Custom Level à Run ActiveX Control or PlugIn (Administrator Mode)

* Tools à Internet Options à Programs à Manage add-ons à IE Developer Toolbar BHO à Enable
* Tools à Internet Options à Advanced à Enable third party browser-extensions (requires restart)
