With previous version of IETester (v0.4.2), the IE7 tab crashed sometimes.
With new version the IE7 tab works (but the IE7 testing is pretty much useless, as you can choose compatibility mode in IE8 - so it displays as IE7).

With newest version of IETester, IE6 tab crashes - I can't event type in address.
As webdeveloper I mostly need the IE6 option - too bad it won't work (I know its only alpha, but still its a shame that new release is worse).

Luckily I kept the old version and reinstalled the older version.
You should seek into this.

There is no change in the code between v0.4.2 and v0.4.3. The IE9 addition has no impact on the code.

Did you install new software or new IE add-ons ? Maybe they can have an impact.

Did you setup a proxy ? Maybe this is the cause of the problem.

This is confirmed for me as well, and is because of IE proxy settings. Clear your IE Proxy settings and it should work fine. My question is, why would this have an effect on the tab crashing? I would think it shouldn't, and still log it as a bug.

When I use IE 5.5 or IE6.0 the tabs crash as well. When I set the default page to about:blank the tabs stays open, but after trying a simple website (with a single line of text and a jpeg) the tabs crash again.
My LAN settings need a reference to a configuration script for our firewall, so this might be the problem.

Is there any workaround for my to try? Or when will there be a new version available with this bug fixed?

Anyway, keep up the good work. IETester looks great!

I suppose the problem comes from your configuration script. I don't know when I'll be able to correct this problem.

I'm having the same problem as the others. IE5.5 & 6 are crashing for me, too, as soon as I open them, but IE 7 & 8 work fine. I have to have proxy settings to access my VPN and work on my stuff.

Windows 7 64 bit, no SP.
IE 8.0.7600
IE Tester 0.4.4

Hi,

it seems to be related to Windows 7 and Proxies.
I had the same problem.
In IE I set the proxy explicitly AND disabled automatic configuration.
This solved the problem.
