How to make an IE version as default

I want to make IE 6 as the default browser/tab when opening IE tester.
I have IE 8 installed on my PC.
How can i make IE tester open IE 6 tab by default

Re: How to make an IE version as default

Hi,

I don't understand. the "default" IE is the currently installed IE on your machine. So, it's not possible for IETester to change this.

Re: How to make an IE version as default

Hi, I wanted to post this as a feature request.

also for me "D" aka "Default IE" is quite confusing. In fact I was looking for an option in IETester to configure IE6 to be the "default" IE tab when I open IETester. Then I understood that with "Default IE" you meant the IE installed in my machine.

Anyway, I understand hellowahab request as I have the same:

it would be quite cool to have this feature (setting) in IETester, the possibility to configure IETester to open, as main tab, a particular version that IETester can emulate, such e.g. IE6.

Now I'm developing a website that should be compatible with IE6 and each time I open IETester I have always to click on "New IE6" and copy/paste the URL there. Quite time consuming. With the feature I and hellowahab suggest, this problem would not exist ;-)

Thanks for considering to add this setting and feature.

Best regards,

Re: How to make an IE version as default

Hi,

I really don't understand your request. There is no "default" ie version in IE tester. When you launch IETester, there is no tab. So if you want to launch a "default" tab, you'll need to click on the "new default IE" button, instead of "new IE6" button. So, you'll need to click on a button anyway.

I think your problem is opening a new tab at IETester startup right ? In this case, you can open any IE version tab at startup undere IETester using the command line options :

If I misunderstood your question, feel free to post again and explain your problem.

Thanks.

Re: How to make an IE version as default

I would like this feature, too. I know about the command line option, but Dreamweaver does not allow this in their browser preview settings!!!
It says "The path field does not specify an existing file" if you add ' -ie6' to the Application field. I know this is a dumb Dreamweaver problem, but Adobe are not known for being open to user requests to fix their bugs, so it would be great if IEtester allowed a 'default' version when it boots up in some other way, instead of using the PCs default browser version. (I don't need IEtester to see my PCs default browser!)
