When I launch IETester I get a message about SetDllDirectoryW and kernel32.dll and the app doesn't run.

I'm on a virtual machine running Windows XP with IE6 as default. Could it be that my XP hasn't got SP2 installed? Is that a requirement?

That's right. SP2 is needed.
If you can't upgrade to SP2, I can send you a custom version, but I don't know it that will work (didn't test).
