tester machine

Maybe you can integrate in IETESTER also Opera and Safari?
It should be nice for all testers.

Re: tester machine

Hi,

That is in my todo. First I will try to integrate DebugBar, and then Firefox and Safari.
About Opera, they do not provide the possibility to integrate their rendering engine into a custom application. Maybe this will change in the future so it can be integrated into IETester.

Re: tester machine

I think IETESTER need config file as INI or XML, for example:

<browser>
<caption>IE 5.5</caption>
<location>c:\...\ie5.5\</location>
<execute>some.dll</execute>
</browser>

it will be useful for own intergrate some specific version. And i think will solve problem with Opera license ;-)

Re: tester machine

I am not sure to understand your ini/xml file tip...

Embedding rendering engine is not only calling a dll file. Unfortunately this is not so simple.

Re: tester machine

Why people want FF/Safari/Opera integrated in IETester!?

Just install IETester and one of those browsers or all the 3 together. They can be installed in the same system unlike the different IE versions (only one allowed).
They have almost the same CSS support (just a few differences) and a site tested with any of them will work almost the same.

IE is the problematic browser with poor CSS support and major differences between its versions: that's why IETester is very useful for IE.

The best CSS browsers are Opera and Safari.
Put ((IE < 7) in the trash) && ((IE = 7) in the NeedToBeRewritten group).
And put FF in the "I want to be like IE" group.
However, FF is still not like IE and don't need to be added to IETester.

IETester needs improvements to its interface and to the included IE engines.
It doesn't need new render engines.
