IE6 and service packs

Is it possible to have an IE6 with SP1 and another IE6 with SP2?  If so, how can that be setup?

I just came across this tool yesterday...and so far I love it.

Re: IE6 and service packs

Hi,

I don't understand your point. You are mixing IE versions and windows XP versions here. Unless there is a IE6 sp2 version I'm not aware of.

Re: IE6 and service packs

Hi,

First I guess I should ask, what version of IE6 is included here?  I've read where it was stated the "complete version of IE6" but what does "complete" entail?

For my testing requirements, I need to be able to test XP using IE6 with Service Pack 1 installed as well as IE6 with Service Pack 2 installed in the browsers.  Due to the metrics collected on users for my clients' websites, a high percentage of them have either sp1 or sp2 installed in their IE6 browser, so I need to test both.  Can that be done here in this setup?

/C

Btw, SP3 is another update to IE6.
(I don't know about rendering differences, but it surely adds security fixes)

Re: IE6 and service packs

Currently, IE6 files included in IETester are dated 2003 or before. I suppose they are from the original IE6 (prior to Service Packs). Don't they represent a dangerous security hole for people browsing the Internet with IETester?

Re: IE6 and service packs

People should probably only be using it for testing sites, not for normal web browsing

You are right but the main purpose of IETester is to test web sites. So I don't think people are using IETester for normal browsing so far (maybe in the future, when it will become more stable, who knows !).
