IE Tester renders all web pages exactly the same with all IE versions. I have opened all of the different browser versions, and ran the Acid 2 test on every version. All of the results were exactly the same.

Any suggestions on how to get this working properly?

Hi,

What is your OS version and default IE version ? Also what is the url you are using for your tests ? If under Vista are you running IETester in admin mode ?

Windows XP Professional SP3. The Default IE is 7. This is a work PC, so I am not the admin, if that makes any difference.

Any advice? This is happening on both my laptop and my desktop. Both are running Windows XP Pro SP3.

It is working fine on my side, that is on IE8 beta 2, I get the right display for the acid 2 test. For IE7, I get wrong result. For IE6 it is even worse, and even worse for IE5.5 tab.

Both tester on XPSP3 and Vista.

Did you try other pages, like yahoo.com with IE5.5 : Should be badly rendered...

Yahoo.com looks perfect in 5.5, which means that it is not rendering like IE 5.5. In fact, Yahoo looks exacly the same in all browsers versions through IE tester.

Any other ideas why this is working for everyone else, but not me?

hum, really strange. Maybe some IETester component is not working due to some security settings or some antivirus or something like that.

To be honest I don't know what can be wrong. Do you have an antivirus that could interfere with IETester ? or some security settings done by your administrator ?

I'm running McAfee antivirus. I'll check to see if that might be the case. I did figure out that everything is rendering as if it were IE7.

Also, I did install IE8 beta, and then uninstalled it before I tried this. Do you think that could have something to do with it?

Changing the default IE version should not have impact on IETester.
Do you have another computer where you can test IETester and check if it is working correctly ? (a virtual machine is also good)

Maybe this info can help you guys:

I'm running IETester (0.2.3) on a fresh 1.5 days old Vista x64 install (with the standaard IE 7.06) and McAfee Antivirus 13.0.232.

The Acid 2 test-results follow the description fabrice gives @ 2009-01-12 02:06:00
And compared whith the screenshots at http://www.howtocreate.co.uk/acid/ it seems to be rendering correctly.

But Yahoo is renderd perfectly in every IETester browser tab, all exactly the same.

Thanks ! That's a good info, because your vista is x64, so maybe it can have an impact. IETester is a 32 bits software.
