IE9 tab crashes

Testing Environment
---
OS Version: Win7 SP1 64-bit Dutch
IETester Version: 0.5.1
Default IE Version: IE 10.0.9200.16521

Bug Description
---
In the IE9 tab most URL's crash the tab. e.g., wwwgoogle.com, http://google.com, http://www.google.com, wwwgoogle.be and http://google.be
But some URL's don't. e.g., http://www.google.be and http://www.ugent.be

It looks to me like it's got something to do with redirecting. (In Belgium google.com redirects you to google.be)

Re: IE9 tab crashes

I have the same problem...
it appears that when you don't use a full domain name including the "http://www." that it craashes.

kind of odd.

Re: IE9 tab crashes

I have a similar problem with the same setup:
OS Version: Win7 SP1 64-bit English
IETester Version: 0.5.1
Default IE Version: IE 10.0.9200.16521

The IE9 tab was working fine when my default IE version was 9, since I changed to IE10, this bug started to show. But I can't confirm since I changed IE-tester version from 0.4 to 0.5 around the same time... It's very very hard to roll back windows to IE9 from IE10...

I was also able to reproduce this redirection bug with google.be like previously mentionned... and also with my site too.

Example: the url "m-kos.net" redirects to "www.m-kos.net".
My test: "m-kos.net" crashes in IE9 tab, and don't redirects in IE7, IE8, IE10 tabs. Works only in IE6 tab. The IE5.5 tab crashes even when empty...

My suggestion: IE10 on Windows 7 introduced a lot of new behaviours in Windows, some are maybe coming from Windows 8, and IE-tester is less stable now...

Re: IE9 tab crashes

The new version of IE-Tester 0.5.2 has not addressed this issue, at least on Windows 7 SP1 and IE10 as the default IE browser.

I've tested IE-Tester 0.5.2 also with Windows XP SP 3, with IE8 as the default browser, and there is no problem at all here.

So I think this new IE10 for Windows 7 introduced quite a lot of new Windows bugs. IE10 was written for Windows 8, and Microsoft decided recently to make a Windows 7 version of IE10 as well... Sounds good on paper, but it's not quite compatible!

Merci Fabrice pour ton travail...

Re: IE9 tab crashes

This bug seems to be triggered when ever an IE9 window encounters a 302 redirect. The tab crashes every time.

No problem with IE8 or IE10 windows. Just IE9.

Re: IE9 tab crashes

Thanks for the feedback. I'll have a quick look at the redirect process, maybe it's something where I can find a simple workaround.

Re: IE9 tab crashes

Has anyone figured a solution for this yet? I'm trying to find out why a clients javascript menu does  not render properly in IE9 and of course...same issue as others...the IE9 tab is malfunctioning.

Re: IE9 tab crashes

I can confirm that the issue (or at least one of them) is almost definitively related to HTTP redirections. If I disable redirection, source page loads fine. If I load the target page directly it loads fine.

(It's a pity because I'm using XP Mode for IE7 and IE8; I only need IETester for IE9.)

Re: IE9 tab crashes

I'm experiencing the same issue, but it crashes for any URL entered in the IE9 browser. Is there any status on a resolution for this?

Interesting thing is the error doesn't seem to occur on another computer that has IE9, not IE10 installed.
