Windows 7 beta and IETester

Hi,

Just thought I'd let everybody know that IETester runs fine under win7 beta.  IE6 and IE5.5 won't run however and crashes the application, I guess I won't support those browsers in future.

Thanks

Re: Windows 7 beta and IETester

Thanks for your feedback.

Windows 7 is not yet a priority (integrating DebugBar into IETester is the priority so far), but I already checked and there are some stack overflow crashes. I will need some time to investigate and correct the problem. (see the first thread about Windows 7)

Re: Windows 7 beta and IETester

Thanks for the update frabrice.  I plan to use IETester exclusively once it's working in Windows 7.  Folks won't be patient, but that's partially a compliment to the Windows 7 team.  A lot of these guys are upgrading to 7 from XP and they're ready for the switch.

Re: Windows 7 beta and IETester

Yea, xenocode crashes pretty easily and has issues with some javascript libraries, but I'll use it until IETester updates.  Plus, when it comes to IE6 for web development, who else is helping us?  So far it seems like just fabrice.

Re: Windows 7 beta and IETester

I just registered to say that I am also in need of IETester working for IE6 under Windows 7.

I've tried http://finalbuilds.edskes.net/iecollection.htm and http://tredosoft.com/Multiple_IE but neither of these work for IE6.  I think the only solution while waiting for a fix to IETester is to run an XP install in VirtualBox.

Can anyone recommend any other solutions?

I'm sure the best way will be using the Win XP Mode thing when it becomes publicly available.

Re: Windows 7 beta and IETester

Hi,

IETester v 0.3.5 is now working under Windows 7 : Note that it is still unstable and trying to open all version at the same time can crash the application.

Re: Windows 7 beta and IETester

Was testing the last version fine in XP mode and installed 3.5 to try today under win7; still seems to have some problems; running on whatever comes with win7 - IIS 7? anyhow, IE8 comes up fine, IE5.5 comes up fine, IE6 comes up inconsistently and IE7 will not come up at all. Have tried google instead of my development website with the same result.

IE7 will not come up at all

Working on my side with Windows 7 RC.

What do you mean exactly ? The IE7 button is grayed ? The IE7 button is enabled but crashes IETester ? Displays a blank page ? Displays part  of the page ?

Re: Windows 7 beta and IETester

I get an IE7 tab to open but I can never get a webpage to load, not even the default page or something vanilla like Google. IE8 and 5.5 always load - IE6 once in a while, IE7 never.  As I said - I have been running the last version in XP mode so I can still test but running under win7 would be much easier.

There is a misunderstanding here : IETester v0.3.5 is running under NATIVE windows 7, no XP mode involved here.

IE6 and IE5.5 won't run however and crashes the application in win7 RTM 7600

What is RTM 7600 ? Windows 7 RC ? Which version of IETester are you using ?

Thanks.

RTM 7600 is the Release To Manufacturing version of win7 which will be the version available to the general public in late October.

RC is the release candidate version that most people currently use.
